Ixora Botanical Beauty: A Dream That Finally Came Through!
ixorabotanicalbeauty:
In my third year of college (I think), I had to do a presentation for my Technology class. I choose to do said presentation on the cosmeceutical and skinceutical industries. At the time, I had ever heard of such and I was already interested in the pharmaceutical industry, so this was right up my…

Drunken Gummy Bears
What you need to make them:
- Alcohol of your choice
- Bowl (with a lid is optional)
- Fridge
- Gummy Bears
How to make them:
Put your gummy bears (or other gummy candy) in a bowl of your choice. Pour the liquor you are using into the bowl and cover about a 3/4 inch over the top of the gummy bears. You can put a lid on them or leave them uncovered if you would like. These MUST be left in the fridge, if not they will fall apart and turn into a huge glob of goo. The minimum to soak these is about 5 days, but the longer the better for them! Make sure to stir them 1-2 times daily to get them evened out.
Fun facts:
- You can use ANY kind of alcohol to make these.
- Use flavored alcohol to make them even yummier!
- 7-10 equal a shot of the liquor you are using.
- Yes, they will get you drunk - they are soaked in alcohol! ;)
- They will stay good in the fridge for a very long time!
- Serve them with a toothpick for cleaner eating.
What they look like when they are done:

(left is unsoaked - right is soaked in vodka)
— looks like this will be a holiday treat

I just kept it simple by making some vanilla cupcakes from scratch, with a nice buttercream frosting. Pow.
Looks nice… not too much frosting. Just right.
Broccoli Curry Recipe
The original recipe is at this link, but I made some changes, so my recipe is below:
(It also looks like the original recipe owner added chicken to their dish, which is an easy add. Saute it with the onions and finely chop the carrots)
Ingredients:
Broccoli(medium size flowers) - 2 heads
Carrot - 2 medium, peeled diced carrots or about 6 carrot sticks (diced)
1 medium red onion minced
1/4 tbsp of ginger or ginger paste (optional)
1/2 tbsp of red pepper paste or flakes or minced green chili pepper
1 clove of garlic minced
Oil - A little quantity
Salt to taste
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Directions:
In a 4qt sauce pan, add about 1/2 inch of water and put in broccoli and carrots. Put lid on. This will steam the broccoli. You will want to toss maybe twice, but for the most part keep the lid on. Cook until the broccoli is fork tender, but not mushy.
In another saute pan, heat a little bit of oil. Add mustard seeds to pan. When the seed starts to make a popping noise, add the chili, onions and garlic and saute until onions are clear.
Add broccoli, carrots and garam masala to pan. The steamed broccoli should have almost no liquid left in the pot, so you can use either 1/4 cup of water or chicken broth to add liquid back to the dish if you like. I added some salt and tasted and felt like it was missing some ginger. Ginger is so common in Indian dishes that I felt like it was necessary. You may prefer it without.
